What is the difference between a 58 & 52 degree wedge?
What type of shot that use 58 degree wedge? Is 52 degree wedge same as a Sand Wedge?
Sounds like you have a sand wedge (58 degree) and a gap wedge (52 degree)
The typical shot from a sand wedge is to get your ball out of the sand traps. A gap wedge (52 degree) is not the same as a sand wedge. A gap wedge closes the gap between the Pitching Wedge and sand wedge.
Wedges are actually an extension of irons. Irons begin from #3 - 9. The next step becomes your pitching wedge (typically around 45 - 48 degrees) then gap wedge (around 50 degrees) sand wedge (around 55 degrees) lob wedge (around 60 degrees) and finally the High Loft Wedge (around 65 degrees) or the super lob wedge.
Typical golfers only carry the irons from 3 - pw, and a sand wedge. As you get better, most players pick up a lob wedge and a gap wedge.
