An 8 Hour Stay in the Malaysian Airport!!!?
I have an eight hour transit in Malaysia and I was wondering if anyone has any time wasting ideas.
We asked this travel agent person about a tour kind of thing around the city he said it probably won't happen because it would take around 4 hours to get to the city and 4hours to get back. So now my mum is dead set on not going out because she doesn't want to take any chances and miss the flight.
But now I have no idea what to do for EIGHT whole hours in the airport. Worst of all I don't have a frikin' ipod and my mp3 players broken =(
Any time wasters will be appreciated. THANKS in advance! =)
I don't know what city your were thinking of touring, because to take 4 hours one way means you may be going all the way out to Melaka or something!
Travelling on KLIA Expres direct train (adult return fare RM70, ie about €15 or AUD$30 or USD$20) takes less than 30 minutes to KL Sentral station, and from there you can take the LRT (Kelana Jaya line) to KLCC (5 stops away from KL Sentral, fare RM1.60 one way) where the Petronas Twin Tower is. In all, I'd estimate about 1 hour travelling time one way, but to allow for transfer between transports etc, give it an extra 15 minutes.
Note though, KLCC is huge and you could lose track of time. But if you can convince your mum to go there, allow 1 hour 15 mins outward journey, spend maximum 3 hours, allow 1 hour 15 mins return journey, and therefore 2 1/2 hours at the airport for re-checking in etc.
Otherwise, if your mum really doesn't want to leave the airport (afterall the plane could arrive late, reducing your transit time etc) there are free internet points around the terminal!
Ps: if you're leaving the airport for KL city, check first that you're allowed to do so! Some airlines doesn't allow stopover (this would be considered as a short stopover), and there may be visa implication too, depending on your nationality. I'm also assuming you'll be at the main KLIA terminal and not the low cost carrier terminal.
